Arresting IK is impossible for the present Government.

As police attempted to detain the former prime minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi for failing to appear in court on corruption charges, clashes broke out in Lahore between police and Imran Khan’s supporters. Khan’s supporters gathered outside his home, and violence ensued, with police using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd. Khan claims the charges are politically motivated, and his supporters have protested against the attempted arrest. In Pakistan, unrest has increased as by-elections are scheduled for April and a general election is scheduled for October.

Arresting IK is impossible for the present Government.

Conflicts between police and Imran Khan’s supporters have been going on for more than 20 hours at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore. In relation to the Toshakhana, the police made an attempt to detain Khan. In relation to the Toshakhana case, the police tried their best to detain Khan, but ultimately gave up. The police withdrew, which was celebrated by Khan’s supporters as a victory. Khan responded by accusing the police of trying to kidnap and kill him, citing their use of live fire after using tear gas and water cannons. Additionally, he claimed that the DIG rejected a surety bond that he had signed, further demonstrating their ulterior motives.
